Beal Joker 9.1mm UNICORE Golden Dry
The Beal Joker 9.1mm UNICORE Golden Dry is a single/half/twin rope which now adds UNICORE technology and a Golden Dry treatment for increased functionality, durability, and weather protection, for use by high-level climbers in harsher winter conditions. The two technologies of the Beal Joker 9.1mm UNICORE Golden Dry make it extremely durable: sheath slippage and fraying is eliminated greatly improving its safety characteristics, with an abrasion and water-resistance that make it suitable for use in more extreme winter winter conditions. Requires advanced belaying technique and recommended for use by advanced climbers only.

If you want a rope that will work in winter conditions, then this is the option for you. Features all the same treatment characteristic of the Dry Cover but has an extra treatment on each filament of the inner core strands, further enhancing its resistance to water and ice, and greatly improving rope handling characteristic in wet/cold conditions and extending the lifespan of the rope.
Beal's Unicore treatment is where the sheath and core of the rope are uniquely bonded together. This means that the rope can still be used, even if the sheath gets cut and makes it much safer in mountain environments.
1 Rope 1 Tree
Beal takes their environmental responsibility seriously. They divide their efforts between two main approaches. Firstly, Beal run an exceptional programme, in which they plant a tree for every single dynamic rope purchased. They’ve been doing this since 2007 and have no plans to stop! Secondly, Beal organises the recycling of ropes when they reach the end of their life. Every Beal rope is recyclable, and anyone can send their used Beal rope to one of their recycling departments, where they are broken down and reused. Top work Beal! This rope served me for two years of intense climbing. It is now retired as it started fraying, but the core is still intact. A good choice for sport climbing.
I used the rope on some sport routes as well as on a glacier and some alpine routes.
The configuration was as a single or a half rope.
It handles nice and has a positive feel to it.
The first touch of the rope wasn't that positive. It felt like it would tangle a lot and was unnaturally stiff and inflexible.
After the first session that was gone and the rope felt awesome.
