The Arc’teryx Alpha FL Jacket Men is a hardwearing, minimalist alpine hardshell designed with maximum breathability, waterproof, and windproofness at minimum weight. As Arc’teryx’s lightest jacket in the FL (Fast and Light) series, the Alpha FL Jacket utilises core climbing features with weight-reducing construction methods to produce a jacket that is highly durable, with exceptional mobility thanks to its lightness, for those who wish to truly move fast in the mountains.
The Arc’teryx Alpha FL Jacket Men features GORE-TEX® Pro 3-Layer with an N40p-X face fabric. 3-Layers increases durability to handle rock abrasions from rocks in harsh mountain environments, while the N40p-X fabric is supple so as not to restrict the climber’s movements on fast or technical climbs. Seams have been reduced to a minimum, and they have been built using micro 8mm seam tape, which not only sheds weight but frees the surface from breathability-inhibiting glue. A single pocket reduces weight even further, while the helmet compatible StormHood™ protects in severe weather and wind, and a two-piece Hemlock™ harness blocker prevents the jacket from riding up above the wait when worn with a harness.
For moving fast and light on the mountain, a balance of performance and lightweight flexibility is key. The Arc’teryx Alpha FL Jacket delivers the high-spec performance and durability of GORE-TEX® Pro 3-Layer, but saves weight by only using the bare necessities, for moving truly fast and light. It sheds weight wherever possible, increasing its adaptability to intense dynamic movements and its ability to breathe, while maintaining a level of durability necessary to survive vigorous mountain pursuits. Features
GORE-TEX® Pro 3-Layer
Short and simple, it's more waterproof, windproof, and breathable to face extreme weather, but especially more durable to stand up to harsh and rugged terrain. GORE say that they only use outer fabrics of at least 40-denier (a rating used to measure the mass density of a textile's fibers) to make Pro garments. This makes the jackets tougher and more resistant to abrasion so as to withstand rugged and harsh environments, but also heavier. Because of this, GORE say they use an "exclusive" 100% ePTFE-based multilayer in their Pro garments (the substance that makes GORE-TEX jackets tick) with Gore Micro Grid Backer technology to both reduce weight and enhance breathability.
Helmet-compatible Stormhood™
Designed to provide the ultimate protection in cold or wet weather. Accommodates a helmet, and can be easily adjusted with one hand with the cinch cord at the rear of the hood. Drawcords are located on the inside of the hoop to prevent wind flap in heavy winds. Laminated brim and high collar deliver full coverage without restricting movement or visibility when moving the head in any direction.
Harness HemLock™ Insert
Foam insert designed to keep your jacket from riding up when wearing a climbing harness. Ensures full coverage, and can be removed when not needed.
Arc’teryx Fit Guide e3D: Trim Fit
An additional level of articulation to provide enhanced range-of-motion. Patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk.
