The North Face Low Pro Hybrid Jacket

The North Face's Low Pro Hybrid Jacket is a lightweight, packable 800-fill down jacket that can be worn by itself on cool days and used as a mid-layer when the temperature drops, the clouds unload and you need the protection of a shell. The side panels are made from FlashDry jersey fleece, which provides breathability in critical areas when the going gets tough, and the shell is made from lightweight but durable water-resistant, ripstop Nylon. A fixed hood with stretch lining provides extra warmth, while integrated transceiver loops keep your avy beacon secure. As part of The North Face's Steep Series, this jacket is designed specifically for big mountain and backcountry skiing and snowboarding.

Low Pro Hybrid Jacket

800 Fill Goose Down

Down with a fill-power of 800 is down of the high-quality and has an excellent warmth to weight ratio. It’s light, thick and lofty which will keep you extra warm, but is also incredibly compressible, and easy to pack, making it great for mountaineering and ski touring. Down feathers are made up of tiny fibres that trap pockets of air and insulate your body to keep you really warm. While it’s one of the most effective insulators on the planet, down is rendered ineffective if it gets wet and down jackets are not very breathable, that’s why it’s so important that it’s easily packable.

Low Pro Hybrid Jacket

DWR

The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish has become almost ubiquitous in the outdoor industry, and the satisfying water beading it provides has become the hallmark of a beautiful jacket. It is not strictly waterproof but will provide protection on it’s own against a light shower; however it does wear off so needs to be topped up from time to time. The DWR stops water from soaking into the outer layer of waterproof fabrics like Gore-Tex meaning they remain breathable and light in even in heavy rain.

Low Pro Hybrid Jacket

FlashDry™ Technology

FlashDry™ is The North Face’s innovative fast drying fabric technology that works by accelerating the evaporation process in conjunction with the moisture wicking properties of a fabric. This means it will dry super-quickly, keeping you as comfortable as possible, even during highly aerobic activities. It is either embedded into the fibres of fleeces and base layers, or used as a laminate layer for hardshell materials, which increases the surface area of the fibres and means moisture can evaporate easily. It’s a permanent treatment, meaning it won’t wash out or wear away.

Low Pro Hybrid Jacket

Ripstop

Ripstop is a fabric weaving technique, most commonly used with Nylon and polyester, to increase the strength of the fabric and stop it from tearing. Originally used in military standard parachutes, the ripstop weave is an integrated crosshatch pattern of thicker fibres, placed at intervals across the fabric. This pattern acts as a barrier to stop the fabric from tearing, and if it does end up getting ripped, the ripstop pattern will stop it from tearing further.

Low Pro Hybrid Jacket

Stow Sack

This jacket can be packed packed down and stored in one of its pockets, so you can easily store it in your pack or clip it to your rack. This saves loads of space and makes jackets with this feature ideal just-in-case items for climbing, ski touring and mountaineering.
