The award-winning Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer™ Down Jacket lives up to its name: the world’s lightest full-featured down jacket you won’t even feel is there. Rather than a cold chill, the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer™ Down Jacket gives you welcomed warmth through your body, with a Q.Shield® DOWN that is water-repellent, insulates when wet, and lasts a lifetime. A lightweight jacket that is unparalleled when it comes to layering performance. Hoodless version of the Ghost Whisperer Down Hooded Jacket.
|MATERIAL||Whisperer 7D x 10D Ripstop / 100% Nylon (body fabric content)|
|INSULATION MATERIAL||68 g. Q.Shield™ Down 800-Fill|
|WEIGHT||7 oz. / 197 g|
Q.Shield® DOWN infuses down fibers with water repellency to maintain insulating performance even when exposed to moisture - the achilles heel of untreated down. Because it's part of the molecular structure of the shell materials, it doesn't wear off, and will last as long as the material itself.
Ripstop stops rips!
Ripstop fabrics are fabrics woven with special reinforcing technique that makes them resistant to tearing and ripping. Used in sails, hot air balloons, kites, and parachutes (disclaimer: jacket will not work as a parachute… or at least hasn’t been tested to).

I bought the version without the hood because if every layer I have on has a hood I get annoyed with the bulk in my neck.
This is a very warm jacket, and the fit is very good on me (skinny, tall), which means I get a lot of warmth from it.
The weight is very good, and it's quickly become my everyday warmth and my warm layer for hiking in temperate weather.
As soon as it gets extremely cold I prefer the version with the hood, since that does give something extra.
Packs small to take with me anywhere, and I take it along 'round all autumn, winter and spring. The super light-weight fabric looks and feels like it might rip any time, but so far no damage in heavy every day casual use. At this price a great buy.
