Scarpa Instinct VS Climbing Shoe

The Scarpa Instinct VS is an aggressive, down-turned slipper style climbing shoe that gives you those easy ons and offs whilst still maintaining high comfort and technical precision. Thanks to the Bi-Tension randing system, the Scarpa Instinct VS climbing shoe is just stiff enough to hold on to micro edges, but flexible enough through the midsole to allow for super-precise technical manoeuvres. The Vibram XS Edge rubber sole is sticky but solid enough to keep its shape, no matter how hard you climb; if you like technical boulder problems and steep sport faces, this is the shoe for you. All our Scarpa climbing shoes are displayed in European shoe sizes.

Features

Instinct VS Climbing Shoe

Vibram XS Edge Rubber

Developed for maximum support, Vibram XS Edge rubber allows you to focus your weight on the tiniest of holds. Thanks to improved plastic deformation resistance, XS Edge keeps its shape through hours of repeated abuse, in hot or cold weather. Great for use in conditions where secure edging is paramount, it provides the best balance of performance and durability.

Instinct VS Climbing Shoe

100% Lorica®

Lorica is a synthetic material, often used in the uppers of climbing shoes. It doesn't stretch, but is still very comfortable, providing the wearer with lasting fit and durability.

Instinct VS Climbing Shoe

Bi-tension Active Randing System

The Scarpa Bi-Tension Active Randing system provides maximum toe power. Like a reverse Slingshot, it starts from underneath the toes and connects to the heel rand, drawing energy up from the toes, which provides a precise fit but without painfully jamming your toes forward. It also uses less rubber which makes for lighter shoes.

Instinct VS Climbing Shoe

High Friction Toe Patch

Scarpa’s High Friction Toe Patch is made from specialised soft rubber; because the rubber is so soft, it creates more friction between the shoe and the rock, which results in better grip and easier toe-hooking.

surprisingly sticky

I used to have a Miura VS (which has the same Xs edge rubber) and the Miura VS did not feel precise enough. However the Instinct VS feels a lot more sticky as the shoe itself is not as rigid as the Miura VS.

great shoes

Brilliant shoes, really precise to place and pretty comfortable to wear once they are worn in

Great pair of shoes

I bought this shoe 1.5 shoe sizes down from 41 to 39.5 since i like snuggy fit for high performance. It is advertised for wide feet but i am on the narrow side and they fit like glove.

Pros.
-Amazing edging
-Amazing fit (best so far)
-great heel hook
-hard sole (x-edge) that supports the feet and wears slow. Also great for slab climbing.

Cons
-Not the best smearing (expected)
-Cant be worn for prolonged time
-Sensitive toe patch
-Hard sole(x-edge) doesnt have the stickiness of a softer sole (eg., like in my testarossa)

All in all a great technical shoe!

Excellent Climbing Shoes

Excellent climbing shoes. Resistant and easy to wear. You can really trust this shoes. I broke my toe few months back while I was wearing a different pair of shoes, and now I am back. When wearing my old shoes I don't feel safe, I bought the Scarpa VS and my toe is really comfortable in it, it doesn't hurt and I can trust to use the tip of my feet for a better climbing.
I would highly recommend to a friend.

Not the same sizing as Instinct laces.

This Vs model is almonst a size smaller than the laces Instict. They are my 3rd Scarpa shoes and I always used the 44, but for this model i'd need a 44.5.
