La Sportiva Python Climbing Shoe
The La Sportiva Python is a competition and artificial wall climbing shoe that combines high performance with comfort for modern climbers who want to push their level on boulder problems, overhanging sport routes, technical face climbs, and in climbing gyms.
The La Sportiva Python has been designed to be as sensitive and as soft as possible with maximum performance on heel hooks and toe hooks. The sole is only 3.5mm thick and no lining is used at all, and La Sportiva have given it a 5/5 out on their sensitivity scale. Great for tiny, frictionless holds on overhanging problems! The sole has been split in the middle to make the shoe as soft as possible for technical manoeuvres like toe-hooking and general hooking onto steep holds, and the velcro strap secures the heel when heel hooking and blocking.
The new Python has an improved toe patch for better toe-hooking performance and boasts a more comfortable fit than before.
The Python is designed to be fit really snugly, but keep in mind that it's unlined suede leather upper will stretch up to a full size. So size appropriately!

This shoe stretches well over time. So you can relax and climb. I think the heels of this shoe are the best. However, micro stance because little weak my fingers are easy to stretch.
I had 3 pairs of the old pythons and was so excited to see La Sportiva releasing them again. I guess I got my hopes a little too high because now I'm feeling a bit disappointed. I'm not a fan of the changes they made to this shoe. The reduced volume in the toe box and the heel rubber are my two my two biggest complaints: the heel rubber being the worst offender. The colored rubber simply isn't as sticky as the black stuff. There have been plenty of times now where the heel will skate in the pythons and then ill switch to a solution comp and pull the move. Its just annoying that Sportiva would try and update a product that already performed really well for what it was, and that they would sacrifice aesthetics for performance.
My go-to shoe for hard bouldering and sport climbing. Also great for the gym! Flexible and thin toe for sensitive footholds, and sock-like fit. The new heel feels great. An awesome improvement the classic Python. This show stretched up to a size and a half, with a quick break-in period. Also, you just can’t beat the price. Take this shoe, and a Solution, and you won’t need anything else on your trip!
My only complaint is that an inner lining would make this shoe even more comfortable!
Compared to my old scarpa the python is way better.
you would have to break in for about 2 months.
Smearing and edging is very comfortable to execute, small foothold feels like a jug to stand on. It is very confidence inspiring and this really up my smearing game. The rubber is a tad thin which will affect durability, however it is very sensitive which is good only if you are careful.
It provides a lot of value for its price.
This is the climbing shoe i pretty much has stuck to ever since i bought them first time, this new one has stickyer rubber than the old python(that was the version i have used the most) not to say the old is bad, im just saying if you gonna get a pair of python go for the new ones, i have tried multiple shoes and this is still my favuirte of those ives used
