La Sportiva Otaki Climbing Shoe - Women's
The La Sportiva Otaki Women's is the ladies version of the Otaki, still featuring all-round performance with high levels of support and an aggressive shape, but with a few key differences. The Otaki Women's features XS Grip 2 rubber rather than the Edge compound, making it overall softer and grippier. This shoe should perform better on overhanging routes and boulders thanks to this! As always, La Sportiva have changed the volumes slightly to better form to women's feet.
The Otaki Women's has been made for all-round performance and adaptability on varied routes and technical climbs. A high level of foot support and the P3® rand system work together to produce the shoe's edging ability, while the S-Heel™, an "incompressible piece of rubber" that stabilises and controls heel hooks and blocks to keep you stuck onto the hold, sectioned toe rubber, aggressive shape, and sole rubber made for friction provides performance on technical and steep problems. Essentially, this shoe has all the technical bits of a high-performance boulder shoe except with a rigid sole. Ideal for the all-round climber who wants one do-it-all shoe.
The Otaki Women's uses a microfibre / suede leather upper with linings in the front and back, so expect there to be some level of stretch in the shoe, but not too much. It's hard to predict with these types of uppers and linings, but it should be about up to half a size. La Sportiva also recommend fitting this shoe on the looser side for a comfortable performance fit.

Looking for comfort on long routes, but precision and technical down turn for bouldering? Well you've found it with this shoe!
As someone who was previously glued to the Women's La Sportiva Solution, I didn't think that I'd ever rate a shoe higher. With narrow and shallow feet, La Sportiva are my go to now as they always provide a snug fit with no gaps.
I decided after another pair of Solutions worn out, that I'd like to look for a pair that would be more comfortable on long routes, now that I was discovering a love for sport and trad climbing. These definitely fit the bill.
The Women's Otaki are a great middle ground between the Skwama bouldering shoe and the men's Otaki. They are the same as the men's Otaki, however they have a softer rubber which is great for sensitivity on bouldering, including smearing. And naturally they're a lower cut if you have daintier feet.
The inner of the shoe has a soft lining, that feels incredibly comfortable but don't leave your feet overheating. The double velcro also ensures a better fit to your feet, an improvement on the solutions and I imagine the Skwama.
A couple of things to note though;
* Photos when you buy them will often show them as a slipper fit, with a tag on the top to pull them on. This is not the case, they now have a tongue that is only attached on one side. Not a massive problem, however I did initially like the idea of having a similar style tongue to the Solutions.
* Secondly, these feel incredibly snug when you first put them on but they do stretch a bit more than the solution. Something that was a concern to me at first, but the good folks on LiveChat reassured me that they'd fit just as good as my previous shoes in no time; which they did!
I'll definitely be purchasing another pair of Otaki in the future, these are a fantastic shoe!
