La Sportiva Cobra Climbing Shoe

The La Sportiva Cobra climbing shoe is a highly sensitive downturned slipper designed for gym and bouldering performance with the comfort of an unlined shoe. Looking at the Cobra, it's a really good value climbing shoe with no unnecessary technical features and just the fundamentalist design. A great shoe for gym boulderers in need of a highly flexible and soft shoe that isn't too uncomfortable or painful.

The Cobra uses the softer Vibram XS Grip 2 compound designed for maximum friction, and the sole is only 3.5mm thick. This high level of grip and sensitivity will perform extremely well on steep and overhanging routes with microholds, and the absence of laces and technical features should make the shoe incredibly supple. Although, this shoe is still meant to be really comfortable. One reviewer said that he wore it whilst multipitch climbing!

Being a slipper, the Cobra should be fitted on the snug side. But bear in mind that the unlined suede leather will stretch up to a full size! So remember to size appropriately, and don't be worried by the break-in period. It will be worth it!

Perfect training shoe

I needed a nice all-rounder after returning to bouldering from a pandemic-induced break, and took a chance on the Cobras mostly because of the price. I'm so happy I did. These are a perfect all-rounder. So comfy, flexible and sensitive but definitely stiff enough for smaller footholds. I appreciate the ease of a slip-on and the minimalist design is lovely.
I wear a 38 in Solutions and got these in a 37.5 which fit perfectly. Maybe not a 'performance' fit but they're snug enough for training, and I have my Solutions at the ready for projects.

Solid Slipper

I bought these in a 41.0, I wear a 41.0 in my La Sportiva Solutions which are a bit snug and was looking for a softer shoe that could be a more comfortable alternative. The cobras are still getting broken in, but if I were to size them again for more performance I'd definitely go for a 40.5. They are really nice for larger volumes and vertical routes, not as good on overhanging routes, or small foot chips.

Solid Shoes

I'm Asian and have street shoe size 42 (Vans/Chucks). Was wearing 40.5 Pythons and decided to get a comfy slippers for whole day wear in the gym. Got the same 40.5 for Cobra and it fits perfect. I actually feel so much more comfortable climbing with Cobra than Pythons now.

I climb around V5 boulders and 7A routes.

WORTH IT - Amazing Shoe

I had originally bought these shoes for speed climbing, and I was completely amazed! Even though they were a little loose, I was able to to climb hard boulders and sport routes comfortably. I get these in size 40, but I wear a size 39 1/2 in Men's Solution, and Women's Futura. If you want a solid fit I would recommend sizing down half to a full size. The Cobras did wear out pretty quickly. I would like to blame that on that fact that I used them for speed climbing and essentially everything everything.

short life

great comfy slipper,
my only concern is the very short life span.
i have been climbing in these for about 3 months now and there is already a hole in the toe area.
