Five Ten Quantum VCS Climbing Shoe

Exactly the same as the regular Quantum but with a velcro closure system and extra toe rubber. Being easier to take on and off, softer, and better for toe hooking, the Five Ten Quantum VCS lends itself to bouldering and technical, overhanging climbing more so than its big brother, so if you're looking for a performance bouldering shoe with lots of comfort and support, this will be the better option.

The Quantum design was developed by the Huber brothers, Alex and Thomas, to create an all-round performance shoe that performs particularly well on long, hard routes, without being too uncomfortable. The last has an aggressive downturn to suit overhanging climbing, but with a wider fit that allows the foot to sit in a more natural position, it can be worn for longer periods of time. In addition, the stiff midsole will support the foot on longer climbs. The synthetic upper will minimise stretch, and Ariaprene, unlike, neoprene is resistant to odours whilst still being very moisture absorbent.

If you are used to the old Quantum VCS when it was manufactured in the US then we suggest going a whole size up for the same fit

Quantum VCS Climbing Shoe

Stealth® C4™ Rubber

A high-friction rubber used on the majority of Five Ten’s shoes due of its all-round performance and versatility. Five Ten first debuted this rubber on the original approach shoe, the Five Tennie, in 1985, and since then Stealth rubber has always been developed by Five Ten themselves in direct conjunction with their shoes, unlike other shoe manufacturers who outsource their rubber. The result is a rubber that works with your shoe harmoniously.

toebox rubber split open

I was hoping to find a replacement for the phased out Black Wings in this shoe. I wasn't able to do much testing since the rubber of the toebox split right open after three times of using them, they're for the bin. Perhaps I got a bad pair but I'm definitely not risking that again.

The shoes are very precise and comfourtable. But you have to go at least size and a half bigger than your usual size.

Precise and confortable

Very precise and confortable shoe. I recomend.

Quantum VCS UK size 9

I wanted a slightly more aggressive 5.10 shoe from the Anasazi I have. These fit the bill well with loads of rubber around the toe and heel. They are a bit stiffer and slightly downturned. A bit tighter than I would have preferred although the haven't had much use yet. Build quality doesn't seem as good as that Anasazi with a less substantial buckle but very similar overall.
In summary can't wait to get onto some decent rock & use them.
