N400-AC² Weather Protection
A unique, highly durable, weather-resistant nylon fabric. Polyurethane coated inside and out, the fabric is water, snow, and even air impermeable to protect the contents of your bag, with a pigmented white interior reflects light for heightened visibility.
A weatherproof seal that, when not needed, is stored inside the pack out of the way. Easy to use with gloved hands, this closure system seals out moisture and has a wide mouth opening that allows quick access to pack contents.
Fully Taped Seams
With fully taped (or sealed) seams, every possible seam in the garment has been sealed up with a waterproof tape to prevent water and snow seeping through the stitching, so absolutely no liquid makes its way into your gear.
Ripstop stops rips!
Ripstop fabrics are fabrics woven with a special reinforcing technique that makes them resistant to tearing and ripping - the same technique used in sails, hot air balloons, kites, and parachutes (disclaimer: item will not work as a parachute… or at least hasn’t been tested to).

This backpack is designed for alpinism and makes very few compromises to make it more all-round and usable in other disciplines. It has what's essential for one to two day trips in the mountains: a way to strap on two ice axes, crampons, a rope, hip and waist straps and a single small pocket on the outside. This is combined with a water resistant roll top fabric and that's essentially it. No (literal) whistles, inner pockets, extra straps, hydration bladder holes or water bottle holders. And I love it.
The backpack feels very light and fits my back well. It sits pretty high and is rather narrow as you'd expect from a mountaineering backpack. The fabric seems durable (so far) and sheds dirt water, and snow well. When empty it packs very small.
I've used this backpack for going into the mountains, ice climbing and Nordic ice skating. I wouldn't recommend it for many other activities since it lacks some features and the ones it has (like the rope strap) would mostly get in the way. But for those it does it job great.
True to it's name, Deadbird came out with a Fast and light pack that's truly at home climbing with you. This was an upgrade from the BD Blitz 20 for me and it climbs just as well (awesome) but gives me more room to live with.
The large main chamber and single storage pocket give you all you need for space when climbing, and the suspension makes the pack pretty much unnoticeable when on lead. I have not had any problems with mobility or looking up while wearing the pack ice climbing, and the waterproof coating keeps my stuff nice and dry, almost too dry, as when you get wet gloves etc. in the bag they won't dry out at all on multi-day pushes.
I feel I could overnight out in this baby with careful packing, but it's not so roomy that you can plan poorly. It's not quite 30L, but its still way more space than a single day needs. The tool/crampon carriage is good, but I feel I'd like a slightly more secure way to mount my tools. With most standard packs you can heave them around by the secured axe like it's a built in handle, not so with the bungee system included here. So far the outer skin has been very durable, but Im concerned about the direct contact with my crampons over time. All in all, a great pack for a great price here on Epic.
