Alien Cams Alien REVOLUTION Hybrid Double Sling
The Alien REVOLUTION Hybrid Cam is the new, updated version of the classic thin crack protection device, now with a double sling, 20% weight reduction, and higher strength. The new Alien REVOLUTION Hybrid Cam is an upgrade of its predecessor, including new design features to improve upon its already well-known ability to excel in small, thin cracks, making a much more reliable and trustworthy cam.
The Alien hybrid cams feature a smaller lobe on one side on the cam and a larger lobe on the other. This is designed for a better fit in flared cracks or any crack with different proportions that identically sized lobes just won't fit into, making them a highly useful addition on any climb. The new Alien REVOLUTION Hybrid Cam features a narrower, riveted head to reduce its profile size. Not only does this reduce the weight of the cam for a lighter carry on your rack, it allows it to fit into even smaller cracks and placements making it much more versatile when on route. The thumb trigger now has a rubber thumb plate, and the finger trigger is curved, making it more comfortable and easier to use.
The new cam retains its highly flexible stem that reduces the force exerted upon the cam's head to stop it from walking whilst in the crack. A stronger aluminium cable has been used to increase strength, the trigger wires are easily replaceable if they become damaged, and the double sling can be used normal length or extended to reduce rope drag or for safer placements in deep cracks.
Alien cams excel in thin cracks, pin scars, and technical placements, and on big wall climbs. The hybrid version is designed for peculiar, difficult, and uncooperative cracks, and taking one just in case cam on your rack can save the climb if you are redpointing. The latest version of the hybrid can do this even better, whilst also being stronger, lighter, and easier to use, for faster, more efficient, and better protected climbing.

I used to think offset cams are an aid thing until a friend gave me to try one of the older Alien offsets. I was really surprised when I found myself constantly using the piece. I realized that having it made me SEE more placement opportunities than before. On routes with sparser protection, this sometimes meant the difference between no placement at all or an offset cam placement.
After that, I got three more of the newer and lighter Alien offset cams in order to cover a range of thin cracks. These are now an indispensable part of my rack.
