Black Diamond Access Hoody Women
The Black Diamond Access Hoody Women is a PrimaLoft® Gold, Bluesign® approved hooded jacket designed to be as warm and protective as an insulated hoody can possibly be. With warm-when-wet insulation, a highly durable, abrasion-resistant and weather-resistant outer shell, as well as the use of highly stretchy materials, the Black Diamond Access Hoody Women is fully-featured in terms of insulation protection and comes with the essential climbing features, making it a high-performance, extremely reliable mid or outer layer.
The Black Diamond Access Hoody Women features PrimaLoft® Gold insulation with a Pertex® Microlight shell. Water-resistant and hydrophobic, PrimaLoft® Gold is able to retain 96% of warmth when wet, meaning that if you're caught out without a waterproof, or in a heavy storm that leaves you soaking, your insulated jacket will still keep you warm, safe, and moving. Pertex® Microlight improves down's ability to loft and has a DWR finish, further increasing the level of warmth the jacket can trap and enhancing this protection against the elements. This material is also highly durable thanks to its ripstop construction, protecting the jacket from sharp rocks, and keeping the down safe inside the jacket, where it should be. The underarms feature Schoeller® Stretch-woven Nylon with NanoSphere® Technology. Placed in the main high-sweat areas, this material features a permanent water-repellency that's part of the textile's design to allow for quick-drying after sweaty exertions, and is durably stretchy for freedom of movement. A climbing-compatible hood provides head protection in wind and rain over a helmet, and the jacket can be compressed into its own pocket and clipped onto a harness when the weather clears.
In severe environments, insulating jackets not only need to be warm, they need to stay warm. The Black Diamond Access Hoody Women comes with water-repellency as the first shield against wet weather, and the highest thermally insulating, hydrophobic down available that won't lose warmth if this shield is penetrated. Windproof, downproof, durable, and stretchy, this jacket is made to be fully climbing compatible, with light protection if caught without a waterproof, and warmth retention if things go completely awry.

PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation
Considered the industry best in synthetic insulation, PrimaLoft® was originally designed by the U.S. Army’s R&D team who wanted to develop a synthetic alternative to down that had the ability to repel moisture with increased breathability. PrimaLoft® fibers are ultra-fine fibers that create tiny air pockets to trap heat, and, unlike down, these fibers are hydrophobic, resisting water absorption that would otherwise soak the fibers, closing their air pockets. This structure allows Primaloft® Gold to retain 96% of warmth even when soaking wet, making it much warmer and better to use during wet weather outdoor pursuits.
Pertex® Microlight Shell
Weather-resistant, windproof material designed with a softness that allows down and synthetic insulation to fully loft (in other words, create as many heat-trapping air pockets as possible). Pertex® Microlight is made using a ripstop weave, a special reinforcing technique that resists tears and ripping, and is coated with a Durable Water Repellent finish to add water, oil, and dirt-repellency. This makes Pertex® Microlight the perfect companion to down and synthetic down jackets, allowing them to be warm as possible, whilst providing protection from abrasions and light water.
Schoeller® Stretch-woven Nylon with NanoSphere® Technology (Underarms)
The durable stretch fabric of long-standing outdoor textile manufacturer Schoeller® for high functionality and maximum comfort, with innovative NanoSphere® Technology. Textiles with NanoSphere® Technology are water, oil, and dirt repellent and highly wash and abrasion resistant. Mimicking the self-cleaning of certain plant’s leaves, finely-structured nanoparticles sit on the face of the fabric to decrease contact surface area and thus cause water and dirt to roll off, exactly the same way a plant naturally repels water. And, because it is part of the fabric’s structure, this repellency is permanent and will not wear off or need to be reapplied like synthetic options.
