DMM Dyneema Daisy Chain 11mm/135cm
The DMM Dyneema Daisy Chain is the ultimate in climbing protection, made from Dyneema that is the only fiber to be trademarked as "the world's strongest fiber". (The uses of Dyneema are massive. For a full explanation of what this fiber is, why it is trademarked as the strongest in the world, and how it saves people's lives outside of climbing, see the features list below.) The DMM Dyneema Daisy Chain is made from 11mm Dyneema, and are 135cm long. Please note: This is a specialist piece of aid climbing equipment. It is designed to be full strength end to end and the pockets are to hold body weight only. Do not use these pockets to anchor yourself directly to a belay.
Dynemma: "The World's Strongest Fiber"
Dyneema is used in various forms of climbing protection, but its application as a life-saving tool expands much further than the sport of climbing. This is because, on a weight-for-weight basis, Dyneema is 15 times stronger than steel and is 40 percent stronger than aramid fibers, such as kevlar. You wouldn’t expect it, but Dyneema fiber is regularly used in armoured vehicle protection, as well as in bullet-resistant vests that are capable of withstanding knives, handgun and rifle fire, or even armour piercing rounds. It is a gel-spun, multi-filament fiber that is created from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene - a common chemical combination used in many plastics - however, it has many qualities useful for climbing: fire-resistance self-extinguishing, can withstand extreme cold and hot temperatures, and even floats on water. Tested in life-threatening situations across the world, Dyneema is the ultimate in safety and protection.
